May 1st

* Next meeting for May 1st march will be this Sunday April 6 at Chuey’s at 11am. Carlos will be attending and representing la Otra SD.
* Route for the march will be City College to Pantoja Park
* Enrique will email la Otra SD list the survey they made up in CCAP and through email together we can all give our input and create our own survey for la Otra SD list for May 1st march. Survey will be basic asking people about their communities and their struggles. We will have the survey at the table and also walk around with clipboards surveying people through out the march. Some questions we posed during the meeting were… What is the purpose of the survey? What questions should we ask? After the survey what do we do/how do we follow up?
* Survey- provide people with info/contacts with other organizations/collectives. Know what kind of workshops/info they need and be a base for them, build and connect with them.
* May 1st planning coalition wanted to have a press conference this Sunday at the meeting. Two questions we discussed were 1. What will be said at the press conference? 2. Whether la Otra SD wants to participate in press conference with the corporate media?
* Carlos emailed the planning coalition last night the following email…..

We agree with the points of unity and believe that we should stick to these points in the Press Conference.
We La Otra San Diego prefer not to speak with the corporate media.
We support the march and the organizing efforts and prefer that any speakers at the march speak about the points we have already agreed on at the previous meeting.
We do not agree with the slogan/point of unity "su voz es su voto" because we know that many people in our communities cannot vote and do not consider voting our only voice. One proposal that we do have is to incorporate independent media in the Press Conference I will send the links shortly.

* He wanted to attend one of our meetings. From the emails exchanged and a short discussion at the meeting, it was decided that it is not ok for him to come to the meeting, but he can check la Otra SD website for more information.

Announcements

* Thursday April 3 there will be a screening of the documentary a guy from Brazil made about Brad in Oaxaca. Screening will start at 7:30pm at the Free Skool. The guy from Brazil will be present at the screening and will be selling his documentary. Contact Kilo for more information
* Saturday April 19 there will be a Peace Festival at Southwestern College from 1-7pm. If you would like to table at this event or for more information contact Maite.
* Oscar agreed to give money from la Otra SD to Carlos to send to Adriana so she can bring back $100 in merchandise from Mexico for all of the events coming up.

Kumiai Tortillas

* Individuals can respond by email if interested in buying tortillas.
* We needed more info about the tortillas….

Where would the pick up be?
Will the orders be weekly or monthly?

Zapata March

* Saturday April 12. 9am conference starts. March starts at 3:30/4pm. You can register online for the conference
* We need to make a banner for the Zapata march and the May 1st march. Kilo and Carlos are the banner committee. Saturday at 1:30pm at the FreeSkool people can come by and help out with the banner. Black or white cloth and red paint is needed to make the banner.
* Free Skool address is 4246 Wightman St., City Heights. Please contact Kilo or Carlos if you can help out or if you can get any materials for the banner

Chicano Park Day

* Carlos is going to call Adriana to see about getting a table at the event
